My Approach
Therapy is interactive and tough work! My focus will be on trauma and the symptoms of trauma such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and grief. Trauma can be defined as a loss of a loved one, sexual abuse, mental abuse, a car accident, a major health scare and divorce just to name a few. Trauma can leave us feeling with an overwhelming feeling of loss of control over our minds and bodies, even many years after its occurrence. Our reactions can sometimes lead to feelings of shame, further compounding those we already hold about our identity and questions about our sanity. Trauma presents itself in our lives in both big and small ways. I will work with you to decode your trauma by helping you understand these events and how they show up in your life now.
Grief a type of trauma can be all-encompassing and intertwine itself in our lives so much that we cannot function day to day. Most people carry trauma around their whole lives and most times is unrecognized how it has managed to change who we are and who we can become. No one can escape life unscathed and that is nothing to be ashamed of. We are human and not indestructible. Making a change to focus on our mental health can be life changing. I can say this because it used to be me!
